Develop Core Strength and Breathing with Megan Keegan
Spine Chiropractic’s latest addition to the team is the highly-motivated, always-cheerful Megan Keegan.
Like Dr. Henneberry, Megan first came to us to get a back adjustment from Dr. Jesse Smith, and now she is Spine Chiropractic’s Core Skills Trainer.
Megan was born and raised in Fallbrook, CA, in the northwestern corner of San Diego County. She lived about 20 minutes from the beach and competed in gymnastics when she was 12 and 13.
Her interest in the mechanics of the human body began when she played field hockey in high school and discovered that her time as a gymnast had left her with bad ankles. She had to work with an athletic trainer, which motivated her to take kinesiology, anatomy, and physiology classes.
Chico State’s Kinesiology Department drew her up here to Chico where she started college with a declared major in kinesiology.
Megan got acquainted with Dr. Jesse and Spine Chiropractic in 2021 after a three-hour painting stint (as in hunched-over painting on canvas) left her with a sore back. After some adjustments from Dr. Jesse and rehab work with Spine’s former Core Skills Trainer, Megan Schuman, Megan (Keegan) proposed an internship to Dr. Jesse, which she completed in the fall.
Now Megan is the go-to person for core skills training which includes exercise, stretches, and the development of core strength and core breathing. Megan plans to graduate in December of 2023 with minors in sports performance, coaching, and health promotion. In her free time, she likes to read, paint, and work out at the gym.
